Household contents insurance

- Power surge cover: appliances and electronics damaged when the power spikes, up to R25 000
- Home emergency help: a plumber, electrician, locksmith or glazier on call
Good to know
- Standard excess is 5% of the claim, minimum R500 and never more than R5 000.
- Accidental damage claims: 10%, minimum R500. Lightning claims: R1 000.
- Insure for the full replacement value. If you're under-insured, claims are reduced in the same proportion.
- Contents worth more than R1.5 million are quoted by a broker rather than instantly.
- Things you carry out of the house, like phones and laptops, belong under Portable Possessions or Specified Items.
